Eddie Murphy recalls Sidney Poitier`s advice that left him surprised

Actor and comedian Eddie Murphy opened up about some advice Sidney Poitier once gave him that left him surprised. In Apple TV+`s new documentary, `Number One on the Call Sheet: Black Leading Men in Hollywood`, he shared that the Oscar winner advised him not to join the cast of 1992`s `Malcom X`, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The film was first directed by Norman Jewison, the director of Poitier`s In the Heat of the Night, who cast Denzel Washington in the starring role before Spike Lee took over as director. "They were talking about doing Malcolm X," Murphy recalled. "Norman Jewison was putting it together. They were gonna use The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Alex Haley. And they approached me about playing Alex Haley. Around that same time, I bumped into Sidney Poitier at somet...

Is Buying a Used Peloton Worth the Savings?

We may earn a commission from links on this page. When my cheap Amazon spin bike broke, I wanted to upgrade to something better. But even though I was already following along with Peloton videos on the company's app, I thought getting an actual Peloton was out of reach. Yet as I shopped, I began to change my mind: Even a good off-brand spin bike will start in the high triple digits, and it turns out Pelotons can be rented, or even purchased used. Thus began my quest for a cheaper Peloton, and in the end, I bought a used model I’m very happy with.Mine cost $950 through a Facebook Marketplace sale in 2022. If I had taken the time to shop around and negotiate more, I likely could have found one for less. (Used Pelotons are also a lot cheaper now than they were then.)...

Hidden dangers of holding your pee: What you need to know about bladder health

Whether in the middle of an important meeting or stuck in traffic with no washroom in sight, people often hold in their pee longer than they should — without realising the impact it can have on their health. While an occasional delay is harmless, this practice can lead to bladder and kidney complications if followed frequently. “When you resist the urge to urinate, the bladder stretches beyond its natural capacity, weakening the muscles over time. This can result in incomplete emptying, increasing the risk of urinary tract infections (UTIs) and even bladder dysfunction,” informs Dr Mangesh Patil, Head Minimal Invasive Urology and Endourology - Renal Sciences, Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital. “In severe cases, prolonged holding can contribute to urinary incontinence or painful bladde...

Poilievre defends candidate accused of denying residential schools history

Warning: This story deals with disturbing subject matter that may upset and trigger some readers. Discretion is advised. Canada wanted to ‘cooperate’ on illegal immigration. Trump chose tariffs – National

Newly released documents show that in the days following the U.S. election, Canada favoured “cooperation” with the second Trump administration on “common challenges” related to illegal immigration before the U.S. threatened sweeping tariffs. But following his victory, it appeared U.S. President Donald Trump had little interest in collaboration, choosing instead to publicly attack the U.S.’s closest ally and threaten its northern neighbour with economic collapse.Briefing notes, obtained by Global News, through access to information laws, show Ottawa’s position on illegal immigration right after Trump’s Nov. 5 election win was “rooted in cooperating with like-minded partners, particularly the U.S. through agreements … to enforce border laws and share information to detect threats early and e...

It uses a combination of butter and oil, sugar, milk, flour, baking powder, salt, vanilla extract, and usually eggs.
