India suffered a 66-run defeat against Australia in the 3rd ODI Highlights

In the 3rd ODI Highlights between India and Australia, Australia posted an impressive total of 352/7. Despite a promising start, India faltered during their run chase. Despite this win, they lost the series 2-1, as India had previously won the first two ODIs.

India was tasked with chasing a daunting target of 353 runs, but they were ultimately restricted to 286 in 49.4 overs by Australia. The Aussies had an impressive batting performance, with Mitchell Marsh scoring 96, Steve Smith contributing 74, Marnus Labuschagne making 72, and David Warner adding 56 valuable runs to the scoreboard. Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for India, taking three wickets for 81 runs.

India’s chase began strongly with captain Rohit Sharma scoring 81 and Virat Kohli making 56. However, they couldn’t maintain the momentum and struggled against the off-spin of Glenn Maxwell. Despite this loss, India clinched the three-match series with a 2-1 victory.

Despite Australia’s victory in this match, India had already secured the series with a 2-1 lead. The two teams are now set to face each other at the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 on October 8th at M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.

In this game, Australian skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. For Australia, David Warner played a scintillating knock of 56 runs off 34 balls, while Mitchell Marsh contributed 96 runs off 84 balls, Steven Smith scored 74 off 61 balls, and Marnus Labuschagne added 72 runs off 58 balls. This collective effort marked their best batting performance of the series.

Jasprit Bumrah was the standout bowler for India, finishing with figures of 3/81, while spinner Washington Sundar was the most economical with figures of 0/48 in his 10 overs.

India’s chase of the daunting target of 353 began well, with notable contributions from Rohit Sharma (81 off 57), Virat Kohli (56 off 61), and Shreyas Iyer (48 off 43). However, no other batsmen could make significant contributions, and with wickets falling at regular intervals, India couldn’t build partnerships.

At the end of 49.4 overs, all Indian batsmen were back in the pavilion, resulting in a 66-run victory for Australia.

Glenn Maxwell was the star with the ball for Australia, claiming 4 wickets, while Josh Hazlewood took 2 wickets, and Mitchell Starc, Cameron Green, and Tanveer Sangha each grabbed one.

In a previous match, India had defeated Australia by 99 runs in Indore, despite missing senior players like Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj. Shreyas Iyer had earned the Player of the Match award in that game for his century, which helped India post a massive total of 399 runs.
