R-Rated Comedy From Legendary Controversial Director Is Being Forgotten

While Pecker is standard Waters fare for transgressive filmmaking, the movie doesn’t contain the absurdly vulgar dialogue or plot devices that many of the director’s other works are known for. Rather, the film is more akin to much of the work he committed himself to in the latter part of the 1980s and throughout the 1990s. With less shock and schlock than Female Trouble or Polyester, and certainly more mainstream appeal than the cult classic Pink Flamingos, Pecker seems to be a toned-down version of Waters’ imagination, though it still checks all the boxes for great satire and solid overall filmmaking. Currently, the only way to view Pecker is to rent the movie on Apple TV+. Source link

Dark R-Rated Crime Mystery Thriller With Multiple Marvel Stars Is Being Kept From Audiences

The narrative of Bad Times at the El Royale centers on a titular hotel which sits directly along the center of the California-Nevada border, as a group of unrelated misfits including a Catholic priest, a professional singer, an FBI agent posing as a traveling salesman, and a hippie each check-in in 1969. Due to the conflicting state laws of California and Nevada, the hotel operates under a bizarre set of rules, in which half of the building is legally allowed to serve alcohol while the other half isn’t. As one character quickly learns, the hotel has something even more bizarre lurking just under the surface, as a hidden wall gives way to a large corridor with one-way mirrors peering into each room. Netflix Needs To Adapt Sweet Home Creator’s Other Great Comics

Carnby Kim’s comics are often filled with unique, detailed characters and a building horror that gets stronger with every chapter. Already, one of his works, Sweet Home, was adapted and had favorable reviews. Now, it’s time for someone to jump on his other stories.  Personally, I would love an adaptation of Pigpen. It was my favorite story by Carnby Kim. Pigpen focuses on a man who wakes up on a beach. Though the island is beautiful, the fact that he can’t remember how he arrived on the island, or even who he is, dampens the mood.  As he tries to put the information together, he starts to question everything, including the family that takes him in when he first wakes up. It’s a creepy story that relies a lot on building dread until the end. With a great cast, this would make an excellent l...

Warner Bros. Discovery Lays Off Almost 1,000 Employees And It’s Looking Worse

Warner Bros Discovery isn’t the only company struggling with debt. Paramount Global is also having financial issues of its own, with the company recently signing a preliminary agreement with Skydance Media, according to which the latter would acquire Paramount’s parent company, National Amusement. As per the agreement, Skydance will merge with Paramount to create a “New Paramount,” but the transaction isn’t expected to close until September 2025. As a result of its financial struggles, it’s not outside the realm of possibility for Warner Bros Discovery to split in half. The break-up approach seems to be the strongest option, and WBD could opt to sell some of its poor performers. Of course, this is only a speculation on our part. Source: Deadline Source link

Filming for Shelby Oaks began on May 9, 2022, and was shot at various locations across the state of Ohio. Post-production for the film ended up being suspended in 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike, however, the film was finally finished in January of this year. The film bolsters some impressive crew members such as horror aficionado Mike Flanagan who signed on as an executive producer. Fans of Chris Stuckmann are ecstatic to see the success of Shelby Oaks. After years and years of producing content revolved around watching movies, he finally would be making one his own. One supporter in the comments of his announcement video said “It’s so weird saying this but seeing Chris go from his “hilariocity reviews” to making a movie produced by Mike Flanagan and being picked up by a big distributo...

Paramount+ Cancels Giant Sci-Fi Series After Season 2

Ratings and viewership matter, and Halo Season 1 was far from a failure. It did well with the critics for its action sequences, cast, and visual effects, but it was also criticized for alteration from the source material. Gamers, in particular, were very critical of the Halo series, especially since most first-person shooter gamers refer to Halo: Combat Evolved as the game that revolutionized modern shooters. This demographic particularly disliked the humanization of their video game hero, and some are even glad that it was canceled. Source link

Matthew McConaughey Sounds Like He’s Leaving Acting For Politics

This isn’t the first time Matthew McConaughey has teased a political career, as in 2020 he publicly considered running for governor in his home state of Texas. His potential entry into the race was teased leading up to the 2022 election, but he decided against running. He never disclosed a political party or platform during that time, making any future campaigns a mystery.  It’s unclear what position Matthew McConaughey would pursue in politics. His previous interest in running for governor in Texas and his appearance at a Governors Association meeting could mean he’s considering running for a position as governor. Of course, he could also be eying a national position, or looking to run in California rather than his home state.  Source link

The X-Files Episode Delayed By A Video Game

In a show of true hospitality, the Canadian Airlines Operation Center offered The X-Files crew the chance to use the simulator and virtually fly either a 737 or 747 while filming “Space.” At first, location manager Louisa Gradnitzer thought the operations manager who made the offer was merely joking. Eventually, though, the entire crew realized that he was serious, and that led to many people wanting to put down the cameras and microphones and pick up a joystick. Source link
