Dynamo aka Steven Frayne’s secret London: The magician’s favourite burrito spot and where he shops

Hampstead. I’ve actually lived in London longer than I’ve lived in Bradford now. I started coming when I was 15. I’d get on the £1 bus from Bradford. It would take eight hours — this was before wi-fi so it was proper boring — and when I’d get to London, I’d go straight to Covent Garden, St James Street corner, which is the magicians’ corner, and busk there. I’d stay on other magicians’ couches for the weekend. Jump on the bus back up to Bradford and hopefully go home with a stack full of change in my pocket. Cops pull me over all the time — just so they can find out if it’s me and see if I will show them a trickWhere was your first flat in London? When I first properly moved, I lived in Walthamstow. I lived above a chippy. But it cost me 50 quid a week, and that was quite easy to make bu...

‘I am a chav’: Louis Tomlinson on class, talent and the price of fame

Tomlinson doesn’t overthink the creative process. “It’s not something that I’m spending 12 hours a day thinking about, I’m led by feel,” he explains. “That’s the way I treat my songwriting, too. You know, I’m not some musical genius.” While not designing, you will usually find him playing packed-out arenas in far-flung destinations worldwide. During his Faith in the Future World Tour, which ran May 26, 2023 to June 6, 2024, he played a total of 98 shows starting in Uncasville, Connecticut, and concluding in Mexico’s Guadalajara. Morocco off the beaten path: the best wild swimming spots, from waterfalls to turquoise lakes

Morocco is rich in natural water spots that beckon wild swimmers, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts. Below the grand Cascades d’Ouzoud (north east of Marrakech), smaller waterfalls and secluded pools provide refreshing escapes from the busier areas, perfect for a tranquil dip. For those willing to climb, the rocky pools of the Amtoudi River in the centre of the country flow in gentle steps through a striking gorge, punctuated by pink oleanders that bloom along the water’s edge. Closer to the desert, the clear, green waters of Cascades Attiq offer a refreshing retreat from the surrounding heat and dry landscape, while the serene River of Aït Mansour winds through a landscape of dense palm groves, providing shaded peace. In the Atlas Mountains, remote natural lakes such as Ifni and the fab...

Jennifer Aniston and Victoria Beckham love this £9 ‘collagen coffee’. But does it really work?

In the past few years, coffee has garnered superfood status, and for good reason. According to the latest research the caffeine-fuelled drink contains special prebiotic fibres and polyphenol compounds which help to nurture the gut. Impressively, it’s also been associated with a lower incidence of type two diabetes, heart disease and even Alzheimer’s disease. In the UK, 98 million cups of coffee are drunk daily, and your morning mug is getting more sophisticated than ever. Protein-packed cappuccinos and mushroom blends have been all the rage with wellness influencers, but now collagen coffee is the latest ‘functional beverage’, with a string of A-list fans that include Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston. Searches for ‘collagen coffee’ have doubled in the past month alone and even high-st...

The Palm Beaches, Florida guide: What to eat, drink, see and do

Thanks to a cargo ship running aground here in the late 1800s and spilling its 20,000 coconuts onto its shorelines, stunning palm trees now line the sunkissed streets, where the buildings are painted turquoise, honey blush, saffron, coral and pistachio green. The air is filled with the scent of seafood being prepared in one of the many high-end restaurants. Source link

The Oberoi Nile Cruiser: The ultimate Egyptian voyage with my father

Which is perhaps just as well. With one or two excursions a day to some of the most iconic sites in the land, it’s not as if you’re bereft of Egyptian-ness. On the contrary. The intensity of the exposure to such an abundance of history is overwhelming. Our itinerary took in Philae, Edfu, Kom Ombu, the Valley of the Kings, Luxor and Karnak. All that in four days. People spend lifetimes studying these places. Having a guide, of course, helped greatly. And this is another stroke of genius on the part of Oberoi – guides are allocated per party, not per group, let alone per boat. So if you’re travelling as a couple or as a family, you and your partner or you and your kids will have, for the duration of your trip, the undivided attention of an expert who’ll quickly become more like an old friend...
