Naomi Campbell interview: ‘There are a few people I regret having a go at’

She was late, of course she was late. But then she’s always been late. When she was working for me at Condé Nast ten years ago, when she interviewed the likes of Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin, Piers Morgan and Skepta for GQ, she was always coming to my office in Vogue House, and she was never on time. But that was Naomi. She would then sprawl on my sofa, instruct one of my assistants to fetch her a Big Mac, and pour the charm on. Nothing changes. A few weeks ago, she was 90 minutes late for me at the Dorchester, and even though I gave her a hard time when she eventually turned up, I soon gave up. She has this disarming habit of batting her eyes at you, and it works. Of course, it works. She’s Naomi. Source link

Six Senses Crans-Montana review: a serene ski-in, ski-out resort and spa

Six Senses’ wellness cachet too often eclipses the food, which, on the whole, is really good. So good that you’d be forgiven for staying put all week, foregoing the hearty raclette haunts in town to work your way through the menus. Wild Cabin’s is radically seasonal and fairly global, with a Swiss leaning. It hits all the right notes for the high-end palate in a laid-back setting. Alpine light spills in through a glass wall, illuminating the patterned rugs and open-kitchen, where chefs whip up grilled asparagus and miso cream, rosti and salmon tartare starters, and generous, juicy pork belly with seasonal roots and seabass in Champagne sauce. Bodrum EDITION review: is this summer 2024’s coolest hotel?

Yalikavak, a kind of Dubai-on-sea, is either a half-hour walk or five minute taxi ride; marvel at the gleaming promenade and rows of designer stores, which are interspersed with more Michelin-starred eateries (and Salt Bae’s famed steakhouse, Nusr-Et). It’s decidedly new money — and heaps of it — worth a visit for a quick gawp alone. For a more mixed bag, head to Bodrum, where tourists, locals and boating types mingle. Stroll along the marina, grab an ice cream (and, if you’re looking to beef up your wardrobe, a seriously high quality designer knockoff), and blag your way onto a superyacht if you can. Source link

The Shoreditch vintage shop fashion editor’s love

ALL GOOD IN THE ’HOOD Goodhood has long been a Shoreditch institution for those in search of labels beyond the predictable. Having first opened on Coronet Street off Hoxton Square in 2007, then moving to bigger premises on Curtain Road, the Japanese-inspired store is now scaling up again to its new Hanbury Street spot. It promises vintage curations, pop-ups with local specialists as well as its own stylish in-house label, Goods by Goodhood. Founder Kyle Stewart, who has run the store with partner Jo Sindle since its inception, explains: ‘We want to blur the boundaries between community hangout, brand activation space and contemporary multi-brand edit. We work with our east London neighbour Stranger Than Paradise, who look after our record store; they always deliver on vibes. Our friends at...

Honey Dijon: ‘Invest London Night Tsar Amy Lamé’s £132k salary into trans healthcare’

Honey Dijon is a DJ on the go — in the 48 hours before we speak, she has played a five-hour set at Berghain, two hours in Ibiza and sat front row at Gucci’s London megashow. ‘I’m a bit knackered, but I’m fine,’ says the Chicago-born, 55-year-old trans musician and producer, who is beloved by a unique cross section of the queer community, the fashion industry, ravers, Beyoncé and Madonna. Last year she moved to London, leaving behind New York and Berlin, and today speaks from her sitting room, which is still full of unpacked boxes. ‘London nightlife makes me very sad in a lot of ways. Just like New York, there used to be so many clubs but now gentrification and all these laws are stripping away club culture,’ she says. ‘Most young people now only experience dance music at festivals — that’s...

A full timeline of Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan’s relationship

It is the celebrity relationship hard launch to top all hard launches. On Thursday, after months of dating fervour, Sabrina Carpenter released a music video to her new single Please Please Please — starring her boyfriend and Saltburn star Barry Keoghan. The video features a Bonnie and Clyde-esque romance, with Keoghan repeatedly getting arrested following incidents robbing banks and fighting other men while Carpenter is in jail, ending with the Espresso singer handcuffing her boyfriend to a chair and taping over his mouth. It is certainly a dramatic way to formally announce a relationship to the world, and perhaps reminiscent of J-Lo’s 2002 music video for Jenny from the Block, in which Lopez famously has her bottom affectionately caressed by her then-fiancé Ben Affleck. Sabrina Carpenter d...

Tems: “Prison was a once in a lifetime experience that I feel honoured to have had”

Born Temilade Openiyi, she reluctantly studied economics at Monash University South Africa in Johannesburg before taking up a job in digital marketing back in Lagos, all the while remaining committed to her vision. In 2018, she quit her job and independently wrote, produced, recorded and released her debut single, ‘Mr Rebel’. Over time it became a sleeper hit, which caught the attention of Afrobeat pioneer WizKid. In awe of her unique, alté voice he invited her to feature on his song ‘Essence’, which soon turned her into a global sensation. At its peak the track reached No 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, and even resulted in a Grammy nod for the then 25-year-old. But this year it’s all about her and her debut album. ‘It’s about the aftermath. It’s about how I feel now,’ she says. ‘All the expe...

Who is Hugh Grosvenor, the Duke of Westminster? Britain’s ‘most eligible bachelor’ is off the market

With billions in the bank, boyish good looks, a property portfolio that eclipses the Crown’s and close ties to royalty, it is little wonder that Hugh Grosvenor — The 7th Duke of Westminster — was long considered to be Britain’s most eligible bachelor. However, after asking his girlfriend, Olivia Henson, to marry him while staying at his family home in Cheshire last year, Grosvenor will be hanging up that title. And it looks like he’s leaving the capital too, despite owning swathes of properties across London’s most expensive postcodes. The duke, who inherited his title and the Grosvenor Estate in 2016 after his father died, runs the global property company Grosvenor Group Limited. All of this keeps him busy and, as you’d expect, incredibly wealthy (according to the Sunday Times Rich List 202...

Inside Shein’s £50bn fashion empire, from ‘sinister surveillance’ tactics to its mystery founder

By 2012, Xu and his business partners changed their focus to selling wedding dresses under the website name SheInside, based out of the Chinese city of Nanjing. Roughly three years later, in 2015, Xu had expanded his site to selling other women’s clothes, shortening the name to Shein, launching an app and moving the company’s headquarters to Guangzhou as well as opening an office in the US. Shein, the fast fashion megalith we know today, was born. Source link
