South Korea: Wild boar shot dead after biting man’s arm at rail station | World News

A wild boar has been shot dead in South Korea after rampaging through a city and leaving a man with bite marks across his arm.Police and fire department officials are investigating how the animal was able to make its way across Yangsan in the province of Gyeongsangnam-do. When the boar - which police said was around 1.5m (4.92ft) in length and weighed 100kg (220lbs) - reached Hopo railway station, it left bite marks along the right arm of a man, according to the Korea JoongAng Daily.The injuries were described as non-life threatening, but the man was taken to hospital.The animal had earlier reportedly crossed an eight-lane road and managed to reach different floors at the rail station. Even as India aims to end tuberculosis (TB) by 2025, five years ahead of the global target, a report published by the World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday showed that the country accounts for 26 per cent -- the highest -- global TB burden. The Global Tuberculosis Report 2024 showed that India is the highest among the 30 high-burden countries -- Indonesia (10 per cent), China (6.8 per cent), the Philippines (6.8 per cent) and Pakistan (6.3 per cent) -- which together accounted for 56 per cent of the global TB burden.
