Pipeline policy divides B.C., Alberta as premiers meet with Carney in Saskatoon

British Columbia is pushing back against Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s proposal for a bitumen pipeline to B.C.’s northern coast. It was among the topics of Prime Minister Mark Carney’s meeting Monday with premiers in Saskatoon, where the assembled leaders are discussing a draft list of “national interest” projects to be fast-tracked through the approval process.Smith said any project list that doesn’t include new pipelines would send a bad message to Alberta as separatist sentiment flares up in that province.Smith said she wants to see a bitumen pipeline built to ship oil to the Port of Prince Rupert on B.C.’s northern coast. 2:17 Danielle Smith’s pipeline push at premier’s meeting gets supp...

Village boy Sanjay Kumar Sahu on making it big with Black White & Gray

During this time, I met actors who suggested that I should enrol in National School of Drama [NSD] or FTII [Film & Television Institute of India]. I wasn’t able to get through NSD, and FTII was out of my league because of its high fees. Later, I heard that FTII wa...

Viruses follow seasonal and yearly cycles: IIT-Madras study

Amid a fresh wave of Covid-19, caused by the SARS-CoV2, a new study by researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras showed that viruses follow seasonal and yearly cycles. The international study, undertaken along with a team of scientists from the universities of Wisconsin-Madison and Texas at Austin, focused on viruses in freshwater lakes. The researchers used cutting-edge Machine Learning (ML) tools to study 465 freshwater lake samples from Madison, Wisconsin, collected over more than 20 years. By sequencing all the DNA from the lakes using a method called metagenomics, the researchers reconstructed 1.3 million virus genomes. The study enabled the researchers to learn how viruses change with the seasons, over decades, and in response to environmental shifts. “Virus...

Smoking threatens women`s reproductive health say Indian doctors

Gmail Will Automatically Summarize Your Emails Using Gemini AI (but You Can Disable It)

Ever since Google started integrating its Gemini AI into all its apps, users have complained about seeing the optional AI-powered Summarize button in their Gmail threads. Now, Google is so confident about this feature that it’s enabling automatic summaries for all paying Google Workspace accounts with Gemini access. Now when you open a long email or thread, an AI Summary will be the first thing you see, right up top.Personally, I think these summaries can be quite convenient, depending on the email. But even though Google says these automatic summaries won't show up on every email, just the ones where the AI thinks they would be useful, I could still see them getting annoying if they start showing up a bit too often.
