Poor oral health linked to body pain, migraines in women: Study

Suffering from migraine headaches and body pain? Blame your poor oral health, according to a study on Wednesday. The study, which focussed on women, identified specific oral microbes correlated with certain pain conditions. It also suggested a potential relationship between the oral microbiome and the nervous system. The research examined associations between self-reported oral health, the oral microbiome, and various pain presentations in a group of 67 women from New Zealand with and without fibromyalgia -- a chronic condition characterised by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and sleep disturbances. The results, published in the journal Frontiers in Pain Research, showed that lower oral health was a statistically significant predictor of frequent and chronic migraine. “This i...

Why You Shouldn’t ‘Panic Buy’ in the Face of Tariffs

We may earn a commission from links on this page. You've probably heard a thing or two about the ongoing tariff situation. You might know the Trump administration has been imposing tariffs on countries around the world since February. What started as a 10% tariff on China, for example, has multiplied more than tenfold. Other countries have had tariffs threatened, imposed, then paused, all seemingly at random. It's chaotic, and it's having real-world implications on the stock market, businesses, and consumers. It's tough to keep track of each development, but you've probably heard talk about increased prices—especially when it comes to consumer goods. Perhaps you've heard products like the iPhone are going to jump in price, and if you want to avoid it, you should bu...

Emmy-winning composer likens working with ‘White Lotus’ creator Mike White to ‘toxic relationship’

Cristobal Tapia de Veer says he’s checking out of “The White Lotus” for good. After three seasons, the Chilean-Canadian composer whose trademark sounds helped define the hit HBO series, has said he won’t return for its fourth and final season. He blames a growing rift with Mike White, the show’s writer and director.Reached at his home north of Quebec City, Tapia de Veer says he’d been pulling away from the show for years, and now that he’s cut ties, says: “I’m just relieved.”“I’ve been parting ways with (it) since Season 1, but for various reasons, I kept coming back.”Tapia de Veer describes “The White Lotus” — an outlandish social satire that invariably descends into violence — as a departure from the type of projects he’s worked on, which is arguably why his music works so well. ...

A baby girl has become the first in the UK to be born from a womb transplant, after her aunt donated her uterus to her mother, a London hospital said Tuesday. She added that she hoped "going forward this could become a wonderful reality, and provide an additional option, for women who would otherwise be unable to carry their own child". "The room was full of people who have helped us on the journey to actually having Amy," her father Angus Davidson told the Press Association news agency. "We had been kind of suppressing emotio...
