I have purchased countless smart plugs, and configured an embarrassing number of strip octopi to be able to control what I want from my phone or hub. The Kasa Smart Plug Power Strip HS300, which is on sale right now for Amazon’s “Prime Big Deal Days,” would have saved me so much work.

Aside from being a surge protector, which is never a bad thing with the instability of power grids these days, it has six (count ‘em, six) smart outlets. I know it sounds like I’m making a lot of this feature, but there’s good reason. You can give each of them a different function and I don’t know of anyone else making a smart strip with this many smart outlets. Imagine a light display for the holidays or your office setup or a greenhouse. I can come up with twelve situations I’d use this strip in without a lot of work.

But the best reason to grab it is that it’s 50% off for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days, so you’re getting a $79.99 strip for $39.99. This strip doesn’t require a hub of any kind, as it works with the Kasa app or Alexa and Google. However, it doesn’t support Apple HomeKit; Kasa plans to integrate HomeKit support in the future, but the strip doesn’t currently work with HomeKit as the hub. If you’re a HomeKit user, this doesn’t mean you can’t use the strip, just that you can’t pull it into HomeKit—you’ll need the Kasa app.

If your office lives in the darkness, this bright white strip might be a little much, but otherwise, it should melt into most decor. I really dig the flat, angled plug for a low profile behind a couch or desk.
