The opposition plans to wear black clothes

The opposition plans to wear black clothes to Parliament tomorrow as a form of protest concerning the situation in Manipur

The Opposition has chosen to wear black attire as a means of expressing their protest against the government’s actions on various issues.

On Thursday, all Members of Parliament (MPs) belonging to the Opposition’s INDIA bloc will wear black clothes to the Parliament as a form of protest against the government’s handling of the Manipur issue, according to sources.

The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA), which is part of the opposition alliance, has instructed its MPs to dress in black to express their dissatisfaction with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s failure to address the Manipur issue in Parliament. The opposition has been adamant about receiving a statement from the Prime Minister before initiating a debate on the matter. As a result, a no-confidence motion against the government was submitted by the Congress on behalf of the opposition alliance, and Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla confirmed its acceptance. The date for the discussion on the motion will be decided after consulting with leaders from all parties.

The situation has led to a deadlock in both houses of Parliament, with neither the opposition nor the treasury bench members relenting on their demands. The Monsoon session, which commenced on July 20, is scheduled to conclude on August 11.

Since May 3, Manipur has witnessed ethnic violence resulting in the loss of over 160 lives and leaving several hundreds injured. The opposition’s protest seeks to draw attention to the seriousness of the issue and put pressure on the government to take appropriate action.
