Tesla has announced the appointment of Vaibhav Taneja, Indian origin, as its CFO

Vaibhav Taneja, who is presently serving as Tesla’s Chief Accounting Officer, will be taking on the role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as an additional responsibility. This appointment reflects the company’s confidence in his abilities and his proven track record within the organization. As CFO, Taneja will play a pivotal role in managing Tesla’s financial affairs and contributing to its strategic decision-making process. His extensive experience and expertise in financial matters will undoubtedly be instrumental in supporting Tesla’s continued growth and success in the electric vehicle and clean energy sectors.

Tesla has appointed Vaibhav Taneja, an individual of Indian origin, as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Taneja, who currently serves as the Chief Accounting Officer, will take on the additional responsibility of CFO. He will succeed Zachary Kirkhorn, who has been with Tesla for 13 years and will continue in his position until the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.

Vaibhav Taneja, aged 45, holds a commerce degree from the University of Delhi and joined Tesla’s team after the company’s acquisition of SolarCity in 2016. Apart from being the Chief Accounting Officer, he has also played a significant role as the “Master of Coin” within the organization. In January 2021, Taneja was appointed as the director for Tesla’s Indian subsidiary, Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited. He boasts over 20 years of experience in accounting and has worked with various multinational companies in technology, finance, retail, and telecommunications.

This appointment comes as Tesla strives to boost its sales and expand its market share. The company has even reduced car prices to support this aim, which has affected its industry-leading margins, as reported by Reuters.

Interestingly, Zachary Kirkhorn, the outgoing CFO, was once considered a potential successor to Elon Musk, especially when investors expressed concerns about Tesla’s succession plan. Elon Musk currently heads other ventures like SpaceX, Neuralink, and the Boring Company, and also serves as the Chief Technology Officer of X (previously known as Twitter).
