‘Seize the Moment for a Selfie’: Burj Khalifa to Illuminate with Tricolor at 7:50 PM on Independence Day

The Indian Consulate General in Dubai announced that tonight, at 7:50 pm, the Burj Khalifa, the tallest and most iconic building in the world, will showcase the Indian flag.

On the occasion of India’s 77th Independence Day, the Burj Khalifa is set to showcase the Indian flag. The iconic building will illuminate with the Indian flag at 7:50 PM and 8:50 PM tonight. The Indian Consulate General in Dubai encourages fellow Indians to capture selfies with the display and share them on the Har Ghar Tiranga website.

The Burj Khalifa, renowned as the world’s tallest and most iconic building, is set to exhibit the Indian flag in commemoration of the country’s Independence Day, as reported by the Indian Consulate General in Dubai on Tuesday. Through a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), the consulate shared that the projection of the tricolor will adorn the Burj Khalifa at 7:50 PM and 8:50 PM. The consulate encouraged individuals to capture selfies with the flag display and upload them on the Har Ghar Tiranga website.

Although the consulate confirmed the evening illumination of the Indian flag on the Burj Khalifa, some social media users shared a video asserting that the Indian flag had already been showcased on the building earlier in the day.

Various Indians expressed their joy on X, with one user capturing the Indian flag on the Burj Khalifa along with the national anthem, labeling it a “goosebumps moment.” Another user shared their elation, exclaiming, “What a moment, Indian Flag on Burj Khalifa on the occasion of Independence Day! Happy Independence Day to all.”

Savita Rana Bhaarati highlighted that merely a day after an incident involving Pakistanis at the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building globally, the Indian tricolor was exhibited on Independence Day. They noted, “Today, on India’s Independence Day, Burj Khalifa in Dubai was lit up in India’s tricolor as it displayed the colors of our national flag.”

The day prior, on August 14, numerous Pakistanis gathered at Dubai’s renowned landmark with hopes of witnessing their national flag illuminated in honor of their country’s Independence Day. However, the display did not materialize, leaving many disgruntled and some blaming their government for a perceived loss of international stature.

In contrast to this, an X user shared a video on August 15 showing the Burj Khalifa illuminated with the Indian flag. This user suggested that the Burj Khalifa had refrained from showcasing the Pakistani flag on August 14 due to Pakistan’s perceived lack of democratic freedom. They attributed this status to the establishment of the country.
