Many parents hide their children’s faces online. But does it protect them?

(file image) Photo: Pexels As great as the internet is, it can also be a wild and sometimes scary place. It is why increasingly parents are getting creative with how they share their images of their children online. Such as using emojis to cover their face in an attempt to protect their privacy. "There is this tension parents are trying to navigate around wanting to tell their story to their peer network, of their kids and what they are up to … but wanting to protect their child's visibility," said Nicholas Carah, the director of the Centre for Digital Cultures and Societies at the University of Queensland. The AfD was set to win 33.1 percent of the vote in the state of Thuringia, comfortably ahead of the conservatives' 24.3 percent, broadcaster ZDF's projection showed. In the neighbouring state of Saxony, the conservatives led on 31.9 percent, around half a percentage point ahead of the AfD. Italian divers retrieve the body of one of the victims of the Bayesian sinking. The Mixtape: NY music journalist Puja Patel

Puja Patel Photo: New York music journalist Puja Patel says it's a complete accident her Mixtape song selections are all about "the complicated nuances of love". "It's possible that the heat and the airport - two things that make me kind of nostalgic - infiltrated my brain and sent me down this path," she tells Music 101's Charlotte Ryan. Patel, who recently spent six years as editor-in-chief at Pitchfork, says music journalism was quite an unusual path for a first-generation Indian American girl. This audio is not downloadable due to copyright restrictions. Living between two cultures, she understood early on though that "cool" was chronicled through music and that she could study this by reading the Rolling Stone Album Guide and Spin magazine at the local library.
