If you already hate everything that Tender Branson stands for in Chuck Palahnuik’s Survivor, things get much, much worse as the story progresses. As other surviving members of the Creedish Church decide to catch up with their fallen brethren in the afterlife, Tender and his estranged fraternal twin brother, Adam, become the only remaining survivors of the death cult, and Adam is desperately trying to eliminate Tender before taking his own life. While trying to murder Tender, Adam inadvertently poisons the caseworker assigned to him with cleaning chemicals instead. So, cutting to it: why do I think Wraith Squadron would make for a great Star Wars comedy show? For one thing, the assortment of oddball pilots lends itself to comedy…this is a squadron, mind you, that includes a genius Gamorrean. Also, the crew has a weird sense of humor, including a running joke about an Ewok X-Wing pilot that turns into a series of pranks that make everyone feel more like weird roommates than a military unit. Additionally, as Allston’s books help prove, there is a lot of comedic potential in the squadron’s unorthodox assignments. There’s usually not much room for laughs when X-Wings and TIEs are just mixing it up and blowing each other out of the sky. The person inside the beam is Gary Seven, a guy with a fancy suit, a cute cat, and a mission: he is a supervisor sent through time and space on behalf of an unnamed organization to check on some missing agents. While visiting the past, he ends up detonating a missile, an action he insists averted World War III. We never find out more about who Gary Seven works for, mostly because this was meant to be a backdoor pilot for a new series that never materialized. Source link

Of course, there are some sweet treats in there, too, like orange drink and vanilla pudding, because there’s got to be some joy in the apocalypse, right? Billed on the website as giving you “readiness in the face of uncertainty,” the product listing for the bucket gives more realistic scenarios like severe weather, foot shortages, and unexpected job changes, but it doesn’t say that it’s not for the apocalypse. Alison Foreman from IndieWire acknowledged that while Oddity isn’t perfect, its flaws are still consistent with the core of the film, saying, “Oddity delivers a brilliant, bespoke, and tightly entertaining string of ideas that work stronger as a collection — with even these missteps feeling like they branch from a unified center.” It clearly plays well to an audience too, as when it premiered at South by Southwest, it ended up winning the Audience Award in the Midnighter part of the festival. Interestingly, though a decline in ratings was the reason the series was canceled, according to Rotten Tomatoes, Witches of East End actually did better in the second season, according to the average viewers. Season 1 had an average audience member score of 83 percent and a critic score of 71 percent, while Season 2 had a 90 percent audience score and a 60 percent critic score. Many people were frustrated by the cancellation of Witches of East End. After the announcement in 2014, a petition went around to renew the series, which has nearly 300,000 signatures. #RenewWitchesofEastEnd became a popular tag on Twitter, and even a few celebrities like Channing Tatum, William Shatner, and Snooki got involved, though the petitions haven’t yet led anywhere. Since much time has passed since the release of The Shining, it was assumed that all sets used for the Overlook Hotel were destroyed. However, Elstree Studios, a generic term for demolished British film studios in or around Elstree in Hertfordshire, England, had been hanging on to the final remaining site this whole time. Katharina Kubrick, Stanley Kubrick’s daughter, had this to say about The Shining documentary, “The production of The Shining has been well documented and analyzed, but this is a story which has never been told. Pivotal scenes from the film took place in these areas, so going back to them felt like stepping into the movie itself.”  Source link
