The film is certainly not Shakespeare, but if you’re looking for an upbeat, mostly family-friendly movie to throw on and chuckle at, I think Mr Deeds holds up a lot better than many of Adam Sandler‘s other early career films. The movie has a ton of heart, a solid moral foundation, and some truly hilarious gags, such as Deeds’ obsidian black frostbitten foot, which is hardened to the point that he can use it as a blunt object. Unfortunately, the film is currently not streaming anywhere, leaving fans of Mr Deeds to rely on their old DVD copies, if they can manage to find them. Source link

On August 19, Netflix will begin streaming 13 shows, including, but not limited to: The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, Anne Rice’s Interview with the Vampire, A Discovery of Witches, Monsieur Spade, Into the Badlands, Kevin Can F**k Himself, Fear the Walking Dead, and Dark Winds, among others. Okay, now that I’m thinking about it, Twister is definitely a disaster movie, but it’s not like other disaster movies. Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt are absolute quip machines, and their banter is what truly seals the deal for me. Their crew, featuring the likes of Alan Ruck, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jake Busey, and Joey Slotnick, all of which who have excellent comedic timing, makes for a great romantic comedy. As Bill and Jo sort out their personal issues, the whole crew is rooting for them to not only get Dorothy to fly, but also hug and kiss and make up. Melissa, who I need to remind you is a wonderful woman, can go kick rocks because this movie is about Bill, Jo, and their undying love for each other. Source link

Pumpkin is a low-brow attempt at dark satire but falls short of the mark in many places. The movie succeeds in creating a stuffy, snobby atmosphere and filling the storyline with some of the shallowest characters imaginable, but only does so by exhausting old college film tropes that have been done to death. The critics of its time seemed to admire the premise of the production but felt that the tongue-in-cheek plot devices were too zany and worked to totally offset the satirical message the film was trying to convey. Ricci does well in her role as Carolyn, playing the naive and one-dimensional college girl whose eyes are opened by her new relationship. There is a Lost example of a trap door that really wasn’t, as like Babylon 5’s later seasons, the crew in Hawaii had to deal with approaching an end game that didn’t require everyone’s involvement. That’s why they brutally killed Elizabeth Mitchell’s Juliet using a deep, dark hole and a hydrogen bomb, but this led to fans immediately speculating that she died because Mitchell was starring in the new series V. For years, this was accepted knowledge among fans, but the timing was actually backward, and Mitchell got the offer for V because Juliet was going to die, and the network wanted to keep her around. In the 16 years since The House Bunny premiered, Anna Faris has gone on to star in numerous other projects, including Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, The Dictator, The Emoji Movie, and, of course, her long-running CBS sitcom Mom, which ran from 2013 through 2020. While each of these projects highlights Faris’ talents in its own way, fans would surely be overjoyed to see her returning to the leading position of a House Bunny 2 movie, especially if it means ratcheting up the stakes as a CIA interrogator. Despite the success of Walk the Line, it was also an immediate target of mockery, most notably by the 2007 parody Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which I consider one of the greatest movies ever made. While Walk Hard is a parody of music biopics in general, it most directly pokes fun at Walk the Line and Ray, the 2004 Ray Charles movie. It was a direct response to the genre’s rise, mocking the fact they’d fallen into a predictable structure with each film following the same predictable story beats about infidelity, addiction, and tumultuous relationships with fathers.  Source link

The Walt Disney film, Race to Witch Mountain, was mainly marketed towards young audiences despite it being a reboot of a franchise most of their parents grew up with. I was probably an outlier in the fact that I was a child familiar with the original. However, a large selling point to the kids unaware of the source material was the cast, specifically that of AnnaSophia Robb and Dwayne Johnson. By 2009, the release year of Race to Witch Mountain, every elementary schooler already had some sort of obsession with AnnaSophia Robb and/or Dwayne Johnson. We first need to recap this Battlestar Galactica tragedy before we can dive into the true story that it’s based on. Near the beginning of “Act of Contrition,” the pilot Flat Top has completed his thousandth deck landing, and other pilots have come down to the hangar to help him celebrate. Everybody is too busy celebrating to notice a drone breaking from its restraints, and after its motor is activated, it flies right into Flat Top and the pilots around him, killing 13 people when it explodes.
