By the time the Borg attacked Earth in Star Trek: First Contact, Captain Picard was well aware of their many weapons. He had been on the receiving end of a nasty Borg attack in “Q Who,” and he was later assimilated into the Collective before being rescued by his crew. But what Picard couldn’t figure out was how the Borg Queen survived her Cube blowing up in “The Best of Both Worlds, Part II”. Eventually, Star Trek: Voyager revealed that the Borg can simply create a new Queen when the old one is killed, and effectively having an immortal evil genius leader is a powerful weapon in and of itself. So, with all the delays and everything going on behind the scenes, it’s not outside the realm of possibilities for the story to experience a time jump, especially now that the stars are four years older compared to the conclusion of Season 2. The Eyes of the Dragon is a very different kind of novel for King, as it’s a pretty straightforward fantasy epic and doesn’t delve into his usual penchant for horror at all. Instead, it’s a tale of a king who is murdered, and his son and heir, Peter, is framed for the crime. Peter must then battle an evil wizard and his usurper brother for his rightful place on the throne. The Eyes of the Dragon isn’t necessarily a mind-blowing fairy tale, but it’s well-told and stands out as a unique entry to King’s catalog. This book also was published way back in 1984, so there’s been plenty of time for it to get adapted. In Star Trek: The Original Series, Uhura didn’t get too many chances to be a hero, unsung or otherwise. She handled communications, which meant the beginning and end of her heroism mostly began with receiving galactic phone calls. Fortunately, the later films gave Uhura more to do, and she quickly established her value among Kirk’s crew.
