Star Trek’s Worst Movie Villain Was Almost Thrown Off The Set

Laurence Luckinbill’s interviewer mentioned the cameo of a new actor playing Sybok in Season 1 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Assuming another appearance is in store, Luckinbill was asked if he had any advice for a new Sybok actor. He had advice, including insisting Sybok wasn’t a villain. “I would tell anyone who’s got the new Sybok robes to remember, really, that his impulse is good, is really good,” Laurence Luckinbill said. “He is not a villain. He is someone who has made mistakes… And in terms of trying to change your family or hold the community better, or something like that, you might get nuts and say, ‘No, you will do it this way.’ But the impulse [is] to make things better, and really, at its heart, is let me take your pain away… And I told Bill that. I said he’s not a villa...

Disney Hack Revealed As Artists Group Fighting AI

Nullbudge’s website also states that its hacking acts like the Disney hack aren’t out of “malice” but to “punish those caught stealing.” This is referencing the fact that AI models are trained on existing text, images, video, etc that it uses to learn and create content. In that sense, AI-generated content could be viewed as a form of stealing or plagiarism, as it uses the existing work of artists. It remains to be seen if Nullbudge is truly behind the Disney hack as the company continues to investigate the leaks. Meanwhile, companies like Disney and other major entities are sure to continue to face scrutiny from artists and the public regarding the use of AI. As AI continues to become more accessible, the controversy over the technology isn’t going to stop anytime soon. Source: BBC So...

Glen Powell Starring In Another ’90s Disaster Reboot

By Douglas Helm | Published 12 seconds ago Glen Powell has another 90s’ disaster reboot on the way. Producer Brian Grazer appeared on CNBC and announced that Glen Powell is set to star in a remake of the 1991 film Backdraft. The original film was directed by Ron Howard and starred Kurt Russell and William Baldwin as two firefighter brothers in Chicago working together to track down a serial arsonist. Glen Powell apparently enjoyed his time on Twisters, the follow-up to the 1996 film Twister, as he actually approached Grazer with the idea for Backdraft. Grazer went on to talk about how the remake has the potential to be a huge hit thanks to modern visual effects and an audience preference for films with “real people.” The original film was met with relatively warm reviews and brought i...

The Horror Slasher Changing The Entire Genre

In a Violent Nature, it has such reverence for the source material that when the movie does go in its own direction, it stands out. While the movie’s most obvious hot take is its third-person behind-the-killer perspective, it’s not the only trick Nash has up his sleeve. The film has been described as an “ambient slasher” due to its lack of music. Instead, the film gives Johnny a natural soundtrack full of forest sounds. As he stomps through the leaves and brush, a cacophony of bird chirps and insect buzzes punctuate his footsteps. To say this movie was going for a particular mood and tone is an understatement. Perhaps the movie’s biggest deviation from its slasher ancestors is its final girl, Kris. Rather than a knockdown, drag-out final battle between her and Johnny, we get…PTSD? You migh...

New Fantasy Anime On Crunchyroll Combines Superheroes With Romance

The only thing I didn’t really like about The Magical Girl and Evil Lieutenant was the style of story-telling. It’s only the first episode, so it’s hard to determine if this will be the way the entire show plays out, but I thought the mini-stories making up one episode were a little rough. If done right, little mini-stories can be fun. However, I think there was a lot of story skipped over in the first episode, like more of Byakuya’s background, or the build-up of the romance between her and Shun. Source link

Ryan Seacrest Reveals Wheel Of Fortune First Day Shoot Replacing Pat Sajak

Ryan Seacrest shared his experience on social media, detailing what each moment meant to him as he went about familiarizing himself with the Wheel of Fortune set. “You know, I could not sleep last night, I was so excited,” Seacrest said. “I slept OK, but still very excited for the alarm to go off.” When actually on the studio set, Seacrest remarked that the famous wheel with all the prize amounts was smaller than what he had been expecting based on what everyone sees on TV each day. In an Instagram post, Ryan Seacrest honored Sajak for his time on Wheel of Fortune, saying, “Pat, congratulations on an incredible run with Wheel of Fortune! Your dedication, charm, and wit have made the show a beloved part of American television for decades. Your partnership with Vanna has been nothing short o...

Ryan Reynolds Watched R-Rated Deadpool & Wolverine With The Perfect Companion

Since Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool & Wolverine is simultaneously a Deadpool sequel, the first Deadpool movie in the MCU, and the first R-rated MCU movie in general, it has a lot of box office draw. That draw only intensified when Hugh Jackman was revealed to be returning as Wolverine early on in the marketing campaign, eventually making his way onto the title card. There’s also the fact that the movie looks like it’ll have massive implications for the storyline of the MCU going forward, so there’s probably going to be quite a few kids secretly catching the movie just to be caught up. HBO Gets Dune And The Penguin Series, Max Losing Prestige Streaming Status?

There is potential that the teams attached to the shows have also weighed in about where they want the show to be featured. A few years ago, Scarlett Johansson got into a legal battle with Disney over a guarantee she had that the Black Widow movie would have a period of exclusivity in theaters but then Disney put it on Disney+ for streaming at the same time. Having violated their agreement, Johansson successfully sued Disney. The minds behind the shows that HBO has moved from exclusively being on Max might have had similar preferences. Regardless, with Max now losing exclusivity for so many of the big-name shows it had coming out, it will be curious to see what use HBO sees in Max for the long haul. Source link
