Akin to Biba, these featured objet and furniture items designed by Crispi, poignantly labelled “Made in Italy for Christian Dior” (fittingly, Chiuri is Italian). Crispi’s “moon” lamp which was sold at Dior was the inspiration for the C D logo created by Bohan, who saw the letters in her design. The answer seemed to be throw as many coats at them as possible — khaki, head-to-toe black, varsity jackets and Balenciaga-style cocoons were everywhere. Shoes were covered in fluff, perhaps all the better to take that idea of a soft landing — and offered a quirky edge to pieces steeped in conservative classic codes. Shirts in any colour but white were also abundant; legs were either totally exposed or moderately covered up. No middle ground here. A long-fêted wunderkind, the then creative director of Dior, his life in the bubble was indelibly punctured by his appalling behaviour over a few fateful nights at Le Pearl, a bar in the Marais, where his addled antisemitic abuse included saying he loved Hitler, and that the two women’s (who were not Jewish) forefathers would be gassed. Be proactive, stick to or take up good habits, plan a trip or dinner with friends, do something kind for a stranger, read a motivating book, learn something new, focus on feeling grateful (though trite, gratitude is one of the biggest proven mood boosters). Happily, cashmere aficionado Lisa Yang has popped a few deliciously tomato pieces into her anniversary collection marking 10 years of business. ‘No one has a better understanding of the craft of cashmere production than our producers in Inner Mongolia — they are like part of the family,’ says Yang of how she’s developed her label from her Stockholm atelier, adding, ‘I have learnt so much about how far you can push the boundaries of cashmere design.’ You’ll find reissues of her covetably soft knits and trousers, as well as the highly tempting roll-neck Holly ...

Now we’ve tried the Rally version, with its uprated headlamp, nice, protective, tall screen and improved wind protection for the rider. It also has a larger, more powerful front brake than the L, as well as handlebar-end weights and removable rubber footpeg inserts to cut vibration. Overall the Rally is around 9 kgs heavier than the L, although much of this is accounted for by the extra fuel. It’s still, of course, lightweight. I had little trouble wheeling it around like a (slightly heavy) bicycle, into a tight parking space on a slope. Source link
