Can this £3,000 bed help me sleep like a billionaire?

Ironic, yes, but the Pod is not to be sniffed at. It counts some of the world’s top athletes (Formula 1’s Lewis Hamilton and George Russell), tech overlords like Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg and biohackers like Tim Ferris among its users. Now in its fourth iteration (Pod4 – yours for £2,649), it far outranks earlier sleep-tracking devices like Fitbits or Garmin watches. It is a smart mattress cover, connected to a mobile app, which tracks heart rate variability to determine the quality, routine and duration of one’s sleep, and gives an overall “sleep fitness” score out of 100 every night. It is also connected to a box on the side of the bed, called the Hub, which acts as a control centre. More advanced Eight Sleep products will also be able to block out light and sound, creating a space a...

Meta Quest 3 VR workout review: Is the Meta Quest 3 as effective as Barry’s Bootcamp?

Best for: Joining the mind-blowing metaverse No, not a PS5 and now an Xbox Series X, but rather the very latest entry point into the world of VR gaming, the Meta Quest 3; and what an entry point it is too as having been hands-on and head-in with the device, I can quite honestly and emphatically say that I’m a complete and utter convert.Currently costing about the same as the console twins, what you get in the box is the headset with the standard pre-installed facial interface, 2x Touch Plus controllers and power gubbins, so all quite simple and straightforward. Then you download the Meta Quest app on your phone, install some apps, slip on the headset and slip seamlessly into the virtual world.Using mixed reality, you can let the Quest 3 measure and map the movable space within the room or ...

Magdalena Plaza Seville review: a beautiful stay in one of Europe’s most captivating cities

Home to bullfighting, flamenco, colourful festivals, and the world’s biggest Gothic cathedral, Seville should be on everyone’s bucket list. Sometimes overlooked for larger cities such as Madrid and Barcelona, Seville may be smaller, but there’s a reason it’s known as the Pearl of Andalusia. Originally the economic centre of the Spanish empire, the fourth-largest city in the country has evolved into a cultural and historical hub, boasting three World Heritage Sites and even claiming to be the birthplace of tapas.Cool and contemporary, the Magdalena Plaza Seville is perfectly positioned in the old town of this vibrant city. The hotel, which runs entirely on renewable energy, may be newer to a city so rich in history, but it is well worth your time. The hotel is located in the city’s Alfalfa ...

Floral fragrances for spring summer

Another lilac, and this is a lovely, intriguing take on quintessentially summer scent. It’s made in Grasse for Fortnum and Mason with a floral combination of iris, jasmine, orange blossom and tuberose, underpinned by sandalwood, violet, vanilla and musk. It’s sophisticated, not too sweet and, I’d say, good for both sexes. One of my favourites. Source link

Laura Dern interview: Harvey Weinstein, MeToo and why being a nepo baby is great

With both parents in the industry and children entering it (her son is a musician, her daughter is starring alongside her in a Roger Vivier campaign) how does she feel about the nepo baby discourse? ‘I’m appalled by it, actually, because I don’t understand it. It never came up when all of us “nepo babies” were working. Myself and Jamie Lee Curtis…Your butcher is a nepo baby, your baker, the seamstress, the tailor. Lawyers and doctors who get their kids internships working at a practice so they can see if it’s what’s right for them. Isn’t it our job [to inspire our children]?’ she says. ‘I was so proud of it when I started. Because I love legacy and the history of film. I was raised around so many beautiful film-makers and actors and painters that inspired me. Gregory Peck and his wife Vero...

Kelly Rowland at Cannes, plus 9 other deliciously diva celebrity moments

On the Cannes red carpet last night, Kelly Rowland was caught raising a very pointed forefinger to a member of the film festival staff. We can’t be sure what she said, but any woman knows what the general aura of her body language was saying. “Back the f*** up.”There is a chance that Rowland’s actions were completely warranted — some online commenters note that the Cannes staff member appears to be stepping on the back of her dress, others have pointed out the invasion of her personal space. But it got us thinking about how there has been a distinct drought in diva behaviour as of late. Self aware celebs accustomed to being perpetually filmed are too smart now, too keen to appear relatable, to pull the diva breaks. Sabrina Carpenter isn’t exactly going to kickdrop a paparazzo’s camera anyt...

Sotheby’s new billionaires’ club: Marcus O’Brien interview

But Sotheby’s, with O’Brien at the helm, have time on their side. He is, against the 71-year-old Hersham, cherubic: aged 32 and enjoying an influx of young buyers clamouring for someone more aligned with their tastes. ‘Over the last 10 years, the average age of a buyer with $25 million or more to spend, globally, came down 12 years,’ he says. Competition is heating up for the first gen of luxury agents – Andrew Langton, Peter Wetherell – and for the classic stomping grounds of Mayfair and Belgravia. Today’s purveyors are entrepreneurs from the US and China, along with the scions of Russian and Middle Eastern fortunes: profiles in search of greener pastures, namely Notting Hill, where already stratospheric prices were forced further upwards during the pandemic as London’s most desirable hom...
