Abhishek Banerjee on Legacy: ‘Made me aware of how storytelling changes`

In 2026, Abhishek Banerjee may have three projects lined up on the same platform, but he insists they couldn’t be more different from one another. While the actor is excited about being part of Netflix’s anthology Lust Stories 3 and Rajkummar Rao’s maiden production Toaster, the project closest to his heart is Legacy. After all, it marks his first Tamil web series. “Working in a different language and cultural environment pushed me out of my comfort zone. It made me more aware, more prepared, and more respectful of how storytelling changes with context and region,” he said of the crime drama led by R Madhavan.  Unlike Legacy, Lust Stories 3 may have offered Banerjee a familiar language, but the material made him explore unfamiliar terrain. The actor, who stars in filmmaker Vikramaditya Mo...

Cold snow, hot takes: Lululemon Olympics gear – National

Whenever Team Canada laces up its skates and clips on its skis for another Olympics, fans back home become armchair critics — and it’s not just the performances they’re judging. The last few Games have shown that Canadians love to hate their team’s uniform. They griped about the graffiti-inspired jean jackets Hudson’s Bay made for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and compared the pattern on some of the red-and-white pieces in Lululemon Athletica Inc.’s collection for the 2024 Paris Games to uncooked bacon. This year, they’re likening the maroon and red colour scheme Lululemon is using for the uniform to a Tim Hortons cup and complaining that a puffy, shawl-like vest the team wore at the opening ceremony was akin to a sleeping bag or oversized oven mitt. But experts say none of that criticism really m...

Aditya Rawal reveals how a former addict shaped his performance in Daldal

Aditya Rawal is earning unanimous praise for his chilling turn as Sajid, a drug-addicted serial killer, in Daldal. The Amazon Prime Video investigative thriller, created by Suresh Triveni and directed by Amrit Raj Gupta, also stars Bhumi Pednekar and Samara Tijori, and stands apart for probing the why behind serial killings rather than merely revealing the who. At the centre of this unsettling narrative is Rawal’s deeply internalised performance — raw, fractured, and disturbingly human. The actor admits that from the moment he came on board, he knew Sajid would demand extensive preparation and emotional responsibility. Understanding the mind of an addict Rawal reveals that even before he began his personal research, director Amrit Raj Gupta had already initiated discussions with a psych...

Stage diving, headbanging: An encore explanation of inexplicable rock traditions – National

Back in 2024, I wrote a column that attempted to explain some widely accepted but largely inexplicable things we’ve come to know in the world of rock. Where did the term “rock’n’roll” come from? What’s the difference between “rock’n’roll” and “rock?” Why are many musicians so short? Who came up with metal’s devil horns gesture? And why is there always some idiot in the crowd yelling “‘Freedbird!'” when it’s not a Lynyrd Skynyrd show?Let’s pick up on that theme with more handy and useful explanations. Why do bands insist on the charade of the encore? We’ve all seen it. A band goes through their set and then disappears with the houselights still down while the crowd goes crazy, demanding more. What about the big hits they’ve yet to play? Surely the gig isn’t over yet. Story continues b...

Exclusive! Why Samara Tijori chopped her hair to play a serial killer in Daldal

While Bhumi Pednekar makes a commanding return to OTT in Amazon Prime Video’s Daldal, she finds an almost formidable counterpart in Samara Tijori. As the mercurial serial killer Anita/Anant Acharya, the actor has earned significant acclaim for her portrayal of a ruthless antagonist masquerading as a journalist. Reflecting on the reception, Tijori admits the response has been profound: “It is overwhelming; my heart is full,” she notes with evident gratitude. Samara Tijori chopped her hair for the part Samara, who wanted to pursue criminology, thinks she subconsciously manifested getting the part. Her dedication knew no bounds. She chopped her hair for real. Ask her why, and she explains, “When I went in for the look test, we tried a wig. I remember being like, ‘This is not really making...
