When the Television Academy announced its nominations for the 76th Annual Emmy Awards, on the list were two Star Trek shows nominated for an Emmy. This year’s Emmys cover television shows that ran somewhere between June 1, 2023, to May 31, 2024. The first was Strange New Worlds. It was nominated for several categories, including one for sound editing. Specifically, the episode was “Hegemony” and it was nominated for Outstanding Sound Editing For a Comedy or Drama Series (One Hour). In addition to this Star Trek: Strange New Worlds episode being nominated for this Emmy, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Fallout, Shogun, and 3 Body Problem were also potential nominations. Source link

While the movie was based on popular author James Patterson’s The Postcard Killers, that name recognition certainly wasn’t enough to impress critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, The Postcard Killings currently has a 23 percent critical rating, with some critics complaining that the film isn’t very fun and doesn’t have enough action. Frankly, we think those are strange criticisms—most serious movies focusing on horrific murders won’t be “fun,” and critics itchy for more mindless cinematic action should go stream the latest Marvel slop on Disney+ and be done with it. As you can tell, we think The Postcard Killings is a critically-reviled film that is worth another look. It’s the humanization of its central group of characters that makes Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans my favorite entry in the franchise. It gives the show an emotional depth that is sometimes lost in the lofty ideas the series explores. The unambiguously immoral acts committed by Tekkadan also demonstrate one of the franchise’s central themes, that war brings out the worst in humanity.  In typical style for the franchise, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans also features beautifully animated, engaging mecha combat. Many characters, including the protagonist Mikazuki, use cybernetics to connect directly to their mobile suits. This system provides an in-universe explanation for exceptionally human-like and fluid movement, giving the show’s action a unique aesthetic.  Sourc...

Wayne is so sympathetic that there are moments of “Terms of Endearment” when it’s Mulder who comes off looking like a jerk. “Terms of Endearment” is a monster-of-the-week episode divorced from the show’s larger UFO mythology, but its story is still impacted by Mulder and Scully’s search for “the truth.” It’s set during a time when the pair have been thrown off the X-Files and replaced with the Smoking Man’s son, Agent Spender. Their replacement puts the case in the shredder when he gets it, but Mulder finds it by picking through his garbage. So for most of “Terms of Endearment,” Mulder is without the moderating presence of Scully in Roanoke, and he does the kinds of things his partner might normally be able to stop him from doing.
