The Important Lesson Lost Should Have Learned From Babylon 5

There is a Lost example of a trap door that really wasn’t, as like Babylon 5’s later seasons, the crew in Hawaii had to deal with approaching an end game that didn’t require everyone’s involvement. That’s why they brutally killed Elizabeth Mitchell’s Juliet using a deep, dark hole and a hydrogen bomb, but this led to fans immediately speculating that she died because Mitchell was starring in the new series V. For years, this was accepted knowledge among fans, but the timing was actually backward, and Mitchell got the offer for V because Juliet was going to die, and the network wanted to keep her around. So while this wasn’t actually a trap door, Lost’s lack of planning is still felt here compared to the intricate narrative of Babylon 5, as Elizabeth Mitchell has said in interviews that the...

Give Anna Faris The Sequel She Wants

In the 16 years since The House Bunny premiered, Anna Faris has gone on to star in numerous other projects, including Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakuel, The Dictator, The Emoji Movie, and, of course, her long-running CBS sitcom Mom, which ran from 2013 through 2020. While each of these projects highlights Faris’ talents in its own way, fans would surely be overjoyed to see her returning to the leading position of a House Bunny 2 movie, especially if it means ratcheting up the stakes as a CIA interrogator. Currently, the actress is on a press tour for her newly-released movie My Spy: The Eternal City, which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video. Source link

The Movie Genre That’s Only Good For Parody

Despite the success of Walk the Line, it was also an immediate target of mockery, most notably by the 2007 parody Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, which I consider one of the greatest movies ever made. While Walk Hard is a parody of music biopics in general, it most directly pokes fun at Walk the Line and Ray, the 2004 Ray Charles movie. It was a direct response to the genre’s rise, mocking the fact they’d fallen into a predictable structure with each film following the same predictable story beats about infidelity, addiction, and tumultuous relationships with fathers.  Source link

High stress in pregnancy may raise depression, obesity risk in kids later

High stress among women in pregnancy may get passed on to the foetus and raise the risk of depression and obesity among children later, finds a study.  Researchers at Washington University in St. Louis and Dartmouth College conducted a small study of 46 mothers and 40 toddlers and discovered a link between toddler hair cortisol levels -- a long-term stress biomarker -- and maternal prenatal depression. Published in the American Journal of Human Biology, the study suggests that a child`s long-term stress physiology may be influenced by conditions experienced in utero. Co-author Theresa Gildner highlighted that hair cortisol, which is less invasive than blood tests and more useful than saliva tests, can assess cumulative cortisol exposure over extended periods. "By understanding the long...

The Disney+ Sci-Fi Action Reboot With A Global Superstar No One Ever Talks About

The Walt Disney film, Race to Witch Mountain, was mainly marketed towards young audiences despite it being a reboot of a franchise most of their parents grew up with. I was probably an outlier in the fact that I was a child familiar with the original. However, a large selling point to the kids unaware of the source material was the cast, specifically that of AnnaSophia Robb and Dwayne Johnson. By 2009, the release year of Race to Witch Mountain, every elementary schooler already had some sort of obsession with AnnaSophia Robb and/or Dwayne Johnson. Robb was a lead character in the 2007 gut-wrenching film Bridge to Terabithia, and Johnson had recently starred in his first Walt Disney film, The Game Plan, also released in 2007. Both were highly successful films and ensured that young audie...

Battlestar Galactica’s Saddest Moment Inspired By True Story Tragedy

We first need to recap this Battlestar Galactica tragedy before we can dive into the true story that it’s based on. Near the beginning of “Act of Contrition,” the pilot Flat Top has completed his thousandth deck landing, and other pilots have come down to the hangar to help him celebrate. Everybody is too busy celebrating to notice a drone breaking from its restraints, and after its motor is activated, it flies right into Flat Top and the pilots around him, killing 13 people when it explodes. The X-Files Special Effect Everyone Couldn’t Stop Laughing At

First, we need to briefly recap the X-Files episode in question and how this special effect was used. “Fallen Angel” has Mulder trying to investigate a UFO crash, but he is initially foiled by the military personnel who are charged with securing the area. He finds an unexpected ally in the form of alien abduction survivor and conspiracy theorist Max Fenig, but that may not be enough to stop the show’s deadliest threat yet: a deadly alien whose invisible nature makes him nearly impossible to stop. As you may have suspected, the invisible alien in this X-Files episode is the focus of the special effect we are discussing. Onscreen, the effect looked great, and all of the effects throughout the episode look impressively polished. They look especially good compared to the previous episode “Spac...

The Most Insane Adam Sandler Movie Is Streaming Without Netflix

The film stars Adam Sandler in the eponymous role, as the son of Satan, who is tasked with thwarting his older brothers’ plot to bring the woes of Hell upwards and torture the Earth’s living population. Along the way, Little Nicky crosses paths with a talking dog who can pee out smoke bombs, a struggling actor who refuses to share his Coca-Cola, and a pair of air-headed satan worshippers eager to do his bidding. He also happens upon a few unstoppable trains, an angry polar bear, and a thieving street vendor played by The Boondocks‘ John Witherspoon. Source link
