Turbulence takes instant noodles off Korean Air menu

From 15 August Korean Air will stop serving instant noodles to economy passengers. Photo: NongShim/Amazon By Annabelle Liang, BBC News If you're taking a flight on Korean Air, you might soon notice something missing from your menu - a cup of instant noodles. From 15 August onwards, the carrier will stop serving the noodles to economy class passengers. It said the increased risk of turbulence, narrow aisles and passengers sitting closely together could mean "burn incidents occur frequently". Business and first class fliers, however, will continue to enjoy the treat. The snack has long been a passenger favourite and something the carrier is widely known for. Many praise the fact that it is available for free on request. In a statement, the carrier said that since 2019 the number of times ...

Describing Haniyeh as a "dear guest", the country's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has placed the blame for Wednesday's assassination squarely on Israel. "Following this bitter, tragic event which has taken place within the borders of the Islamic Republic, it is our duty to take revenge," his account wrote on X. While Israeli authorities have neither confirmed nor denied th...

Gurugram: In a rare case, Doctors save baby born with intestines outside body

In a rare case, a baby born with a condition where the intestines were protruding outside the body, was given a new lease of life by doctors here.  The baby girl born to Punjab-based Sakshi Shukla had an uncommon congenital condition, called gastroschisis. Gastroschisis is a rare birth defect where the baby`s intestines exit the body from a hole beside the umbilical cord during fetal development. This can be life-threatening if not corrected surgically immediately after birth, said doctors at Medanta Hospital Gurugram. Shukla was alerted of the congenital defect in the foetus during the Level-2 scan, done at 18-20 weeks of pregnancy, following which she came to the hospital. “When the patient came to us at 26 weeks, we first ruled out any associated developmental problems as associate...

Air New Zealand explains its airfares after it cost almost $2000 to fly domestically

By Emma Stanford of Photo: AFP A spontaneous weekend away in New Zealand is not as cheap as it once was. Most domestic travellers will have, in the last few years, gone to book flights for a weekend away and been shocked at the price. At the time of writing, flights for two people from Auckland to Christchurch on Friday 16 August, leaving after work at 6pm and returning on Sunday 18 August at 3pm cost $1884. This did not include a checked-in bag, just 7kg of carry-on. Leaving Christchurch at 10am would see the trip cost $1480. The cheapest option was $1020, departing at 6am on Friday, but that would require a day of annual leave or remote work. The most expensive fare option for Jetstar, for the same dates, was $1236 - leaving Auckland at 6.30pm and returning on Sund...
