Canada-India tensions: What’s happened and how did we get here?

A diplomatic row between Canada and India is back in the spotlight amid mounting foreign interference concerns and continued investigations of the 2023 killing of a Sikh separatist leader in British Columbia. In tit-for-tat moves, both countries expelled each others’ diplomats on Monday. Ottawa said it was expelling six Indian diplomats and consular officials “in relation to a targeted campaign against Canadian citizens by agents linked to the government of India.”The government acted “to disrupt the chain of operations that go from Indian diplomats here in Canada to criminal organizations, to direct violent impacts on Canadians right across this country,” Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said.Global News has learned agents working out of India’s high commission in Ottawa and consulates in Va...

October is celebrated as breast cancer awareness month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in India. With a high mortality rate, it is a major public health concern in the country. As per a recent ICMR study, breast cancer cases and deaths are expected to rise in India by 2045. However, the key is to detect the cancer in its early stages to help boost treatment outcomes as well as survival rates, said the experts. “Although most common presentation in breast cancer is lump in the breast, it can also present as swelling or lumps under the arm or near the collarbone, nippl...

Trump town hall turns into playlist party as he bobs, dances onstage for 40 minutes – National

Donald Trump ‘s latest town hall in Pennsylvania turned into a spontaneous playlist concert Monday after two medical emergencies in the crowd interrupted the evening’s event. The 78-year-old Republican presidential nominee was about half an hour into the event in the Philadelphia suburbs when a medical emergency brought a question-and-answer session to a halt. Noticing a disruption in the crowd, he asked for a doctor to be brought in.As the man was treated by medics and taken out on a stretcher, Trump acknowledged how hot the rallies can get and asked for an instrumental version of Ave Maria to be played over the sound system.Just as he began to launch back into the Q and A, however, a second medical incident began taking place, and members of the crowd shouted for help.“It looks like, sir...

All of the celebrities pictured partying with Diddy over the years

In March, Prince Harry was named in a lawsuit worth $30 million brought against Combs. The lawsuit, by producer Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones, said that Diddy used his associations with “international dignitaries like British Royal, Prince Harry” to draw guests to his freak-off parties. Although there is no suggestion of wrongdoing on Prince Harry’s behalf, images of Harry, Prince William, Diddy and Kanye West backstage at the 2007 Concert for Diana have emerged online. When asked by Graham Norton in 2011 if he wanted to invite the princes to his parties, the rapper replied: “Not any more, they’re off the list. But before, when they were young bucks they were getting up to trouble themselves. So I was like, ‘Hey, why don’t you come out and hang with me’.”  Source link

Samidoun, group behind ‘death to Canada’ chant, listed as terrorist entity

Canada has listed Samidoun, a pro-Palestinian group behind a rally where people chanted “death to Canada” and burned the Canadian flag in Vancouver earlier this month, as a terrorist entity. Public Safety Minister Dominic LeBlanc made the announcement on Tuesday and noted that the listing was made alongside the U.S. Treasury Department’s own decision to list the group as a specially designated global terrorist entity.“Violent extremism, acts of terrorism or terrorist financing have no place in Canadian society or abroad,” LeBlanc said in a statement.“The listing of Samidoun as a terrorist entity under the Criminal Code sends a strong message that Canada will not tolerate this type of activity, and will do everything in its power to counter the ongoing threat to Canada’s national security a...

UBS sees S&P 500 soaring to 6,400 by the end of 2025

UBS sees the U.S. stock market scaling to new heights in the new year. Strategist Jonathan Golub raised his 2025 S & P 500 target to 6,400 from 6,000 in a note to clients released Tuesday. The new forecast implies upside of 9.2% from Monday's close. Golub pointed to a "supportive" economic backdrop as a catalyst for the change. "UBS economists forecast 3.7% nominal GDP in 2025 (1.6% real), roughly in line with long-term averages," he said. Additionally, "rate cuts should lower interest expense and default risk, adding to both EPS and valuations." Golub's call comes one day after the S & P 500 hit a fresh record, bringing its year-to-date gains to nearly 23%. Stocks have recently been on a tear as investors see further rate reductions from the Federal Reserve on the horizon. "Valuat...
