Best celebrity Halloween costumes of 2024: Kylie Jenner, Lizzo, Halle Bailey

Halloween isn’t even over yet, but it hasn’t stopped plenty of eager celebs from pulling out all the stops with their costumes. And wisely so: waiting until the actual night will probably mean that someone else has already worn a version of whatever you thought was a super original idea. Because — especially in celebrity world — dressing for Hallow’s Eve is almost an Olympic sport. Yes the big day is today, but celebrities from Lizzo to Kylie Jenner Sophie Turner have already stepped out dressed in their scary best before dark. Well actually Turner went more down the sexy route (Trinity from the Matrix) and Lizzo’s costume was more metaphorically scary, as she dressed as a self-branded alternative to weight loss drug Ozempic.Let us explain: the singer was dressed in a giant faux medicine b...

Trump’s plan to radically remake US government with RFK Jr and Elon Musk coming into view

By Zachary B Wolf for CNN From left: Robert F Kennedy Jr, Donald Trump and Elon Musk. Photo: AFP Analysis: For much of the presidential campaign, former president Donald Trump worked to distance himself from Project 2025, the detailed game plan written by conservative activists for a second Trump term. Whether or not his allies will try to implement portions of the controversial plan if he wins the 2024 election is still the topic of some debate. But there is an equally radical and expansive government reformation plan coming out of Trump's own mouth, in which heterodox figures like Robert F Kennedy Jr would be given free rein to "go wild" on the health safety system and Elon Musk would be enabled to, as the tech billionaire said, "start from scratch" with the federal workforce. So w...

Late menopause may increase risk of asthma in women, finds study

While earlier age menopause is known to be detrimental to a woman’s health, a new study on Tuesday showed that a later age at natural menopause can pose a greater risk for asthma. Asthma is a common, chronic disease affecting more than 300 million people worldwide. Multiple studies have suggested a possible link between asthma and sex hormones. Most notable is the fact that adult-onset asthma is more common in women than men. While in childhood, asthma is more prevalent in boys, after puberty, asthma occurs more often in girls. Women also tend to have more severe asthma and are less likely to have remission of the disease. The study, published online today in Menopause, the journal of The Menopause Society, suggested the role of natural oestrogen and synthetic oestrogen, such as those ...

U.S. election: Will Harris, Trump foreign policy plans help or hurt Canada? – National

The world is watching the U.S. presidential election closely for clues on how a Kamala Harris or Donald Trump presidency will respond to mounting global challenges and security threats — and Canada could find itself in the spotlight in either scenario. Neither Trump nor Harris have made foreign policy a centrepiece of their campaigns, and polling has shown international affairs are relatively low on voters’ list of concerns compared to the economy and immigration.Yet the next U.S. president will have to respond to a growing number of crises abroad that have a direct American interest: ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, foreign interference threats posed by Russia, China, Iran, India and other countries, brewing unrest in the Indo-Pacific and climate change among them. There are op...
