What Is Frame Generation, and Should You Use It In Your Games?

Earlier this year, Nvidia announced its new line of 50 Series GPUs with a hot new feature in tow: "Multi Frame Generation." Building on early frame gen tech, these new GPUs allow games to create multiple video frames based on a single frame rendered the normal way. But is that a good thing? Or are these just "fake frames?" Well, it's complicated. On a very basic level, "frame generation" refers to the technique of using deep learning AI models to generate frames in between two frames of a game rendered by the GPU. Your graphics card does the more grindy work of creating "Frame One" and "Frame Three" based on 3D models, lighting, textures, etc., but then frame generation tools take those two images and make a guess at what "Frame Two" should look like.Multi Frame Generation takes this a step...

Akansha Ranjan Kapoor on Gram Chikitsalay: `People see me in a new light’

Whirlwind is how Akansha Ranjan Kapoor describes the past week since Gram Chikitsalay dropped online. While the actor was nervous about how the audience would receive her village girl act, she has been left pleasantly surprised. “The reaction has been good, and it’s getting better every day. Seeing people make memes and talking about my character means it stayed with them,” she smiles.  Kapoor plays a doctor in the Amazon Prime Video dramedy, which also stars Amol Parashar and Anandeshwar Dwivedi. The role is a departure from the upper-class, urban characters that she mostly played before, from Ray (2021) to Monica O My Darling (2022). “People are being able to [picture] me in this role. I bumped into a casting director who said, ‘Who cast you for this? I wouldn’t have even thought of you...

Feelings of frailty may signal early signs of ageing at 40, finds study

Feeling lonely or older than your age at 40? According to a study, these negative perceptions about ageing could be early signs of frailty, even in your 40s. Usually associated with older age, frailty is a recognised medical condition, marked by reduced strength, energy, and ability to recover from illness. Pre-frailty is the reversible transition stage that comes before; however, experts say it`s ill-defined and requires more understanding. The research, published in the journal BMC Public Health, showed that it can begin much earlier with subtle psychological and social cues. "Many people assume frailty is something that happens when we get much older," said lead author Tom Brennan from Flinders University`s Caring Futures Institute in Australia. "But our research shows the psycholo...

‘Dumb as a rock’: Trump fires back at ‘obnoxious jerk’ Bruce Springsteen – National

Donald Trump fired back at rocker Bruce Springsteen on Friday, using his familiar approach to dealing with people he doesn’t like — hurling insults on social media and going after their physical appearance. The president of the United States, upset with being name-dropped and criticized by the rock and roll icon at one of his recent concerts, bashed The Boss as “Highly Overrated” and “not a talented guy.”“I see that Highly Overrated Bruce Springsteen goes to a Foreign Country to speak badly about the President of the United States,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy.”He went on to accuse Springsteen of being a “pushy, obnoxious JERK” and “dumb as a rock,” before zeroing in on his appe...

I Used ‘Cover Your Tracks’ to See What’s Following Me Online, and Yikes

The internet is not a private place. Every time you connect to a website, ads and beacons—both visible and invisible—attempt to follow your every move. They'll even take the anonymized information they collect and build a profile that other trackers can use to identify you as you surf the web. It's pretty bleak. Luckily, modern browsers are fighting back. While there are certainly better options than others, most browsers have privacy protections built in. If you know what you're doing, you can max out these protections and install some third-party boosters to retain some (if not most) of your privacy across the internet. If you're curious how your browser stacks up to the competition, check out Cover Your Tracks. I gave it a shot, and was surprised to find out that my super-private setup w...

Think dengue is only a monsoon illness? Mumbai docs bust myths about the disease

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), about half of the world`s population is now at risk of dengue, with an estimated 100 - 400 million infections occurring each year. In India, as per data from the National Centre for Vector-Borne Disease Control (NCVBDC) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), dengue cases have increased from 1.57 lakh in 2019 to 2.33 lakh in 2024. While the monsoon season is popularly believed to exacerbate dengue and lead to a rise in cases, it is a myth that the disease only affects people when it rains. As Mumbai is experiencing intense heat with untimely rains, city-based experts warn that dengue can be prevalent even during summers. On National Dengue Day 2025, which is observed annually in India on May 16, mid-day speaks to Dr Parit...

Many Canadian campers choosing to camp north of the border this year amid U.S. trade war

Some outdoorsy Canadians are planning to build their tents with elbows up this summer as the season unofficially kicks off this long weekend. Sally Turner says she and her husband plan to do their camping, canoeing and biking this year in Canadian national parks, including at Jasper National Park this weekend, because of the U.S. trade war and U.S. President Donald Trump’s calls to make Canada a 51st state.“I have, in the past, camped in the United States, but that’s not going to happen in the near future,” Turner said while shopping for camping gear in Edmonton.“Most of the people I know are very much choosing to camp in Canada. Elbows up.” Many Canadian campers say Donald Trump’s tariffs and his comments about making Canada the 51st state have convinced them to ca...
