‘Primal Movement’ Workouts Are My New Favorite (Weird) Way to Exercise for Free on YouTube

We may earn a commission from links on this page. Every day, we have the opportunity to learn new things. A few days ago, I learned more about primal movement, an exercise style I've seen around in my years of gym-going and YouTube browsing, but never interrogated further. Like cycling and Pilates, you can take in-person classes in this technique, but you can also just log into the video-sharing behemoth and find some free, guided workouts. What is primal movement?Primal movement feels more like play than punishment, which is a helpful way to reframe things if you struggle to enjoy exercise. Essentially, it's a bodyweight exercise that emphasizes movements like crawling, squatting, lunging, rolling, and balancing, which can make you feel a bit like a toddler or a littl...

Healthy habits can slash future risks to women`s heart with gestational diabetes

While gestational diabetes is known to affect the heart, women who follow healthy habits like proper weight, diet, and no alcohol or tobacco are 86 per cent less likely to experience any future risks to heart, according to a global study.  Gestational diabetes -- a condition characterised by elevated blood sugar during pregnancy -- remains one of the most common pregnancy complications worldwide. The research found that women who adopted a long-term commitment to a combination of five healthy lifestyle behaviours -- maintaining a healthy weight, not smoking, regular physical activity, eating a high-quality diet, and moderate alcohol intake -- reduced their risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD) by up to 86 per cent compared to those who did not adopt any of these habits. Remark...

How Trump’s judicial picks could reshape abortion rights for decades – National

A review by The Associated Press shows that several of President Donald Trump’s nominees to the federal courts have revealed anti-abortion views, been associated with anti-abortion groups or defended abortion restrictions. Several have helped defend their state’s abortion restrictions in court and some have been involved in cases with national impact, including on access to medication abortion. While Trump has said issues related to abortion should be left to the states, the nominees, with lifetime appointments, would be in position to roll back abortion rights long after Trump leaves the White House.Trump has been inconsistent on abortionTrump has repeatedly shifted his messaging on abortion, often giving contradictory or vague answers. In the years before his most recent presidential campa...

Over 15 lakh people were diagnosed with cancer in India in 2024: Minister

In 2024, India witnessed a surge in cancer cases, with over 15 lakh people diagnosed with the deadly disease, said Prataprao Jadhav, Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, on Friday. In a written reply to a query in Lok Sabha, Jadhav detailed the rising cases of cancer in the country. “The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has informed that as per the National Cancer Registry Programme (ICMR-NCRP) Data, the estimated incidence of cancer cases in the country for 2024 is 15,33,055,” Jadhav said. The incidence of cancer is rising steadily in the country – from 13.5 lakh in 2019 to 15.3 lakh in 2024. In 2020, 13.9 lakh cases were diagnosed. The cases spiked to 14.2 lakh in 2021, to 14.6 lakh in 2022, and 14.9 lakh in 2023, the Minister said. He further noted that “8...

The Best Original Movies to Watch on Apple TV+

We may earn a commission from links on this page. Though relatively new on the Hollywood scene (its first original film was released in 2019), Apple TV+'s slate of original films has included not just charming indies, but award-winning prestige pictures. CODA was Oscar's best picture just a couple of years ago (the first film from a streaming service to claim the honor), and the streamer's movies earned it 13 nominations for 2023, even if it got nothing for 2024. (We all have off years.) It's not all prestige, though! Apple also has some delightfully disposable films, such as the globe-trotting new Guy Ritchie movie.Given the complexities of film financing today, you might be excused for believing that many of these movies were typical theatrical releases—but, strictl...

Mumbai: Brother donates part of liver to save sister from Wilson’s disease

In a heartfelt gesture of brotherly love, 32-year-old Anas from Palanpur, Gujarat, donated a part of his liver to save his 27-year-old sister, Humera, who underwent surgery at a Mumbai hospital due to complications arising from Wilson’s disease. Wilson’s disease is a rare genetic condition that leads to excessive copper build-up in the body. If left untreated, it can lead to progressive liver failure, neurological problems, and even death. When the siblings’ older brother Owais, was diagnosed with Wilson’s disease in 2017, the family experienced its first crisis. Following his diagnosis, medical professionals recommended that all his siblings undergo screening. The youngest, Humera, also tested positive. She started her course of medication in 2018, but over time, her health deteriorated...

Marilyn Gladu, the Opposition critic for civil liberties, says in a letter dated Friday that denying the permits did not “preserve the principle of inclusion” but had the opposite effect in excluding Feucht and many Canadians who had planned to attend the events.Feucht desc...
