World Menopause Day 2025: Why more Indian women are hitting menopause early

Once considered a midlife milestone, menopause is now arriving earlier for many Indian women — sometimes in their late 30s or early 40s. Doctors are seeing a sharp rise in cases of premature or early menopause, driven by a mix of lifestyle, environmental, and hormonal factors. Every year, World Menopause Day observed on October 18 aims to raise awareness about menopause and the support options available for improving women’s health and well-being during this life stage. Now, experts are sounding the alarm: Indian women are entering menopause much earlier than their Western counterparts. Montreal satellites play role in climate fight

MONTREAL – The CEO of a Montreal-based company that uses satellites to monitor methane emissions says interest in his technology continues to reach new heights, even as governments appear to be wavering on their climate commitments. Since 2016, Stéphane Germain’s GHGSat has launched 14 satellites that roam the skies to detect emissions from oil and gas facilities, coal mines, landfills and agricultural feed lots. Methane is responsible for about one-third of global warming, according to scientists.GHGSat last month announced a deal with ExxonMobil Corp. to monitor emissions at the oil giant’s sites in Canada, the United States and Asia, and that it raised $47 million in equity and debt financing to help accelerate its global expansion.Germain says the company has managed to continue its gr...

Dan Aykroyd says estates of late stars should be compensated for AI-generated videos – National

Dan Aykroyd says he’s not opposed to an AI-generated alter ego extending his screen career into the afterlife. The “Ghostbusters” star and founding “SNL” cast-member says he’d be open to the idea as long as his estate is compensated for any likenesses created by artificial intelligence.Aykroyd is currently hosting a second season of the History Channel’s wild-but-true series “The UnBelievable with Dan Aykroyd,” which he mused could be a good candidate for such experiments.“Certainly if History Channel and AI want to generate me after I’m gone and have me out there doing the show, they can. But they have to pay my estate, my family, to do so,” Aykroyd said in a recent video call from his family’s Ontario farm in the Thousand Islands.Aykroyd floated the notion when asked for his thoughts on ...

Take these steps for better search results, including adding my work at Lifehacker as a preferred source. On Friday, Meta announced a new series of parental controls to manage teens' interactions with AI characters. On the surface, it seems like a good idea. In reality, however, it's too little, too late. Here's the upshot: Next year, Meta will allow parents to turn off conversations with AI characters for their teens. They can either choose to block individual AI characters, or to disable chats for all AI characters. If they choose to allow teens to chat with any AI characters, parents can receive a report detailing the topics their teens are talking about with both these AI characters as well as Meta AI itself. Those all sounds l...
