Indian professionals hesitant to talk about mental health at work: Report

Indian professionals continue to be hesitant to make mental health conversations at work, over fear of being perceived as incapable and judged, according to a report on World Mental Health Day on Friday.  World Mental Health Day is observed every year on October 10 to raise awareness about the importance of mental well-being and fight against the stigma surrounding it. The report by job portal Naukri, based on a survey covering 19,650 job seekers, showed that 31 per cent of employees feared voicing out mental health issues for the fear of being viewed as incapable. Nearly 30 per cent worried about being judged by colleagues, while 21 per cent reported fear of being dismissed as someone who makes excuses. Another 21 per cent believe it could impact their career growth. Nearly three out ...

The Best Horror Movies Streaming on Shudder

It's getting near Halloween, the perfect time to stream some horror movies. I dug up 15 of the scariest, weirdest, freakiest, and funniest flicks from horror-only streaming service Shudder. I'm leaving off the obvious choices like Psycho and Halloween—if you subscribe to Shudder, you've probably seen all the "classics" at least twice—to focus on movies guaranteed to make you hide your eyes, laugh out loud, or say "what even is this?" A Dark Song (2016) If you like intelligent, slow-burn horror, check out A Dark Song. Like its characters, the debut feature from director Liam Gavin goes places few films dare to tread. Sophia is a grieving mother whose longing for her murdered child compels her to hire Joseph, a self-proclaimed occultist, to try and bring him back through an arcane ritual....

Sight Day: Eye screening, screen time control key to prevent vision problems

Timely screening of eyes, a healthy diet, and control of screen time is important to prevent vision-related problems, said Union Health Minister JP Nadda on World Sight Day on Thursday.  World Sight Day is held on the second Thursday of October, to raise awareness about blindness and vision impairment. This year, it is being celebrated on October 9. The theme this year is "Love Your Eyes". It focuses on self-care for vision, promoting regular eye checkups and preventive eye health practices to ensure access to quality eye care for everyone. “World Sight Day gives us a platform to raise awareness about the importance of good eye health and regular check-ups. Timely eye screening, a healthy diet, and protective habits can help prevent vision problems,” Nadda shared in a post on the social...

‘I’m not ready to die yet’: Dolly Parton breaks silence on illness rumours – National

UPDATE: Dolly Parton wants her fans to know that even though “there’s just a lot of rumours out there,” she’s doing fine. Parton said that “lately everybody thinks that I am sicker than I am” and wanted to address her health issues in a video on Instagram.“Well, today’s October the 8th, and obviously I’m here. … Do I look sick to you? I’m working hard here,” Parton said on set of a commercial for the Grand Ole Opry. “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate – and I appreciate your prayers, ’cause I’m a person of faith, I can always use the prayers for anything and everything – but I want you to know that I’m OK!”“I’ve got some problems, as I’ve mentioned,” Parton continued. “Back when my husband Carl was very sick – that was for a l...

Proposed Quebec constitution will protect province’s identity and autonomy, Legault says

Descrease article font size Increase article font size The Quebec government has tabled a draft constitution that Premier François Legault says will protect Quebecers’ distinct identity and culture. The constitution bill, tabled Thursday in the provincial legislature, would take precedence over all other provincial laws and is intended to defend Quebec values and reinforce the province’s autonomy.“When we look at our history, our survival as a nation was improbable, but we are still here,” Legault said Thursday in the national assembly. “We now have the responsibility to ensure that the history of our beautiful nation continues.”Legault said the bill would be the “law of laws” in Quebec, and characterized it as the culmination of all the measu...

Poor air quality can affect your joints, trigger severe rheumatoid arthritis

Poor air quality may not just be choking your lungs, it can also attack joints, leading to severe rheumatoid arthritis, experts said here on Thursday.  Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the immune system attacks the body’s own tissues, especially the joints, causing persistent pain, swelling, stiffness, and disability. Traditionally linked to genetics and immune system dysfunction, RA is now increasingly being associated with environmental triggers like air pollution. Recent studies in Europe, China, and now India suggest that exposure to PM2.5 -- the dangerous fine particulate matter that penetrates deep into the lungs -- may be linked not only to heart and lung diseases but also to autoimmune disorders like RA. “We are observing a rise in cases of RA...

Bhagwat Chapter 1 Rakshas: Harman Baweja on casting Arshad Warsi, Jitendra Kumar

The trick behind a powerful film is to give the audience something unexpected — by way of the story or the casting. Believing that the script of Bhagwat Chapter 1: Rakshas took care of the first criterion, producer Harman Baweja wanted to fulfill the second. So, in came Arshad Warsi and Jitendra Kumar in a case of “anti-casting” with the former playing inspector Vishwas Bhagwat, who is pulled into an investigation of missing girls in small-town India, and the latter, a suspect. Excited about roping in Kumar — best known for his goody-two-shoes roles in Panchayat and Kota Factory — as the antagonist of the Zee5 thriller, Baweja shares, “Jitu has built such a strong connection with the audience that the moment you say Jitu, you think of him as the good guy navigating the mess someone else m...

Zach Bryan responds to backlash over ICE lyrics in song ‘Bad News’ – National

Country music star Zach Bryan is responding to criticism over his upcoming new song Bad News following claims that it includes lyrics that appear critical of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids. Bryan, 29, shared a snippet of the song on Instagram Friday, which caused many people, including White House officials, to call him out for apparently taking aim at immigration raids. In the song, Bryan sings: “I hear the cops came, cocky motherf—–s, ain’t they? And ICE is gonna come bust down your door, try to build a house, no bills no more, but I got a telephone, kids are all scared and all alone.”“The bar stopped bumping, the rock stopped rolling, the middle fingers rising, and it won’t stop showing. Got some bad news. The fading of the red, white and blue,” the song continued. ...
