Bathroom Access Is a Public Health Issue

It’s not unusual to fast before a medical test to avoid skewing the results. But Dr. Zoë Gottlieb’s patients often skip meals for a different reason.Gottlieb, a gastroenterologist and assistant professor of medicine at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine in New York City, specializes in treating inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), an umbrella term for conditions involving chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract, specifically Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis. People with IBD have “unreliable bowel habits,” meaning they may need to use the bathroom frequently or urgently, Gottlieb says. So when a patient doesn’t eat before their appointment, it can be a sign that they’re afraid they’ll be caught without a restroom when they need one, she says. That fear is warranted in the U...

Chopova Lowena: meet the duo from Deptford who turned the kilt into a cult hit

The street casting positions them in a category of so called diversity and an inclusive attitude to who can appear on a catwalk, and who these clothes are for. But in the reality of retail, it’s not so simple. ‘It’s hard to convince buyers, especially at the moment, budgets are so tight, no one wants to try something different,’ says Chopova. The issues crop up in quantities requested too; a store might want to buy say, one piece in a size 16, the cost of then grading the piece and the restraint of minimum orders means that it’s incredibly expensive to follow through on this. Why It’s So Hard to Get Kids Vaccinated Against COVID-19

When medical treatments or vaccines are hard to get, it's usually because of too much demand and not enough supply. Usually, they would rely on their pediatricians for all childhood vaccines, but many are not stocking the latest COVID-19 shot. Why not? And how can you secure a shot for your tot?Stocking the shot is now financially risky for pediatriciansWhen the COVID-19 vaccine was first authorized for kids, it was during the public health emergency, so the federal government boug...

Vivek Oberoi to his 25-year-old self: Neither success nor failure is bad

If I met my 25 year old self, I would tell him that in the journey of life, there’s always going to be success, failure, ups and downs. But remember one thing, neither success nor failure is bad, both have something to contribute in your life. Success gives you confidence and failure gives you lessons, both are valuable. You should always look and move forward, never live in the past, whether it’s within a success that I live in the glory of it or being down in dumps about a failure. You can’t drive a car while looking in a rare view mirror. A mistake that I would have worked upon is that take everybody’s advice but do what your heart tells you and follow your instinct. In your deeper conscience, you know best. Take knowledge and information from everybody, but process it yourself because ...
