NANDED — The Nanded-Waghala City Municipal Corporation (NWCMC) on Monday commenced a comprehensive 20-day desilting drive across 142 storm water drains in 12 civic wards, committing a special municipal allocation of ₹1.85 crore ahead of the upcoming monsoon season.
Municipal sanitary teams equipped with hydraulic excavators and desilting suction trucks were deployed across major choke points, including the Vazirabad commercial corridor, Sarafa Bazaar nullah, and residential channels leading directly towards the Godavari river basin.
“Our priority is clearing major silt buildup and plastic blockages in low-lying sectors before May 25. Contractors have been issued a strict timeline with daily photographic compliance reports,” stated NWCMC Executive Engineer Rajesh Patil while inspecting Ward 4.
Residents living along Anand Nagar and Maltekdi reported chronic water accumulation during unseasonal showers earlier this month. The civic administration confirmed that dedicated quick-response teams will be stationed at municipal divisional offices to address localized clogging complaints received via the civic helpline.
