NANDED — District farmers who have suffered crop damage due to sudden hailstorms or unseasonal downpours must register their insurance claims within exactly 72 hours of the event to ensure compensation under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).
Under revised Maharashtra state norms, failure to intimate within 72 hours leads to automated claim rejection. District Agriculture Officer (DAO) Dattatraya Ghadge confirmed that over 1,400 claims were disqualified last season simply due to delayed digital intimation.
Step-by-Step Reporting Process:
- Download the ‘Crop Insurance’ App: Available on Google Play Store. Log in using your Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Select ‘Crop Loss Intimation’: Enter your PMFBY policy application number or kisan credit card (KCC) details.
- Upload Geo-Tagged Photos: Stand inside the affected field plot and capture two live photographs clearly displaying crop lodging or water inundation.
- Note the Claim Reference ID: Save the 12-digit SMS acknowledgement for the joint panchnama survey.
“If farmers face network failure in remote hamlets, they can immediately register a phone intimation via the central toll-free helpline 1800-180-1551 or submit Form-7 at their nearest Gram Panchayat Talathi office,” DAO Ghadge advised.
Joint field assessments by agriculture supervisors, insurance representatives, and village patwaris will be completed within 10 days of notification.
