JD Vance says Canada’s immigration ‘insanity’ caused lower living standards – National

U.S. Vice-President JD Vance on Friday took aim at Canada’s political leadership and “immigration insanity” as the reasons for “stagnating” living standards in America’s northern neighbour. In a series of social media posts on X, Vance shared data purporting to show living standards in Canada falling below the U.S. and Britain in recent years. He then connected that to the fact that Canada has the highest population share of foreign-born people among G7 countries.“While I’m sure the causes are complicated, no nation has leaned more into ‘diversity is our strength, we don’t need a melting pot we have a salad bowl’ immigration insanity than Canada,” the vice-president wrote. In a follow-up post he added: “And with all due respect to my Canadian friends, whose politics focus obsessively on the...

US CDC does a U-turn on autism-vaccine link, Indian doctors reject claims

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (US CDC), the national public health agency of America, has quietly taken up an anti-vaccine stand, hinting at the association between vaccines and autism. However, experts in India on Friday, November 21, have thwarted the claims.  Once a key opponent of growing global anti-vaccine sentiment, the change in CDC reflects an anti-vaccine stance by Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., which is also endorsed by President Donald Trump. “The claim ‘vaccines do not cause autism’ is not an evidence-based claim because studies have not ruled out the possibility that infant vaccines cause autism,” read the US CDC website. The updated page also says studies supporting a link “have been ignored by health authorities” and mentio...

Oura Is Suing These Smart Ring Makers

We may earn a commission from links on this page. Just a few months ago, Oura won a lawsuit against rival smart ring makers Ultrahuman and RingConn. Now, they've initiated proceedings against four more companies—the makers of the Samsung Galaxy Ring, Reebok Smart Ring, Amazfit Helio Ring, and the Luna Ring. Oura announced on their website that they have filed an ITC complaint against those four companies. RingConn ultimately came to an agreement w...

‘Peterson law’: Alberta bill to limit power of regulatory bodies on member behaviour

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith’s government plans to limit what behaviour professional regulators can police in the interest of strengthening freedom of expression. A bill introduced in the house Thursday aims to narrow what kind of behaviour regulated professionals — from architects to welders — can be disciplined for by their regulators.Smith is calling it Alberta’s “Peterson law,” after Ontario psychologist and social media personality Jordan Peterson, who was sanctioned by his province’s professional regulator for controversial public statements.“When regulators begin disciplining people for simply speaking their mind on their own time, that’s overreach and, at its worst, it becomes an outright threat to free expression,” Smith told reporters before the bill was introduced. ...
